MATT BECKER
Matt’s qualifications include a Sports Science Degree – graduated 1991, Canberra University and Bachelor of Physiotherapy – graduated 1996, Sydney University.

Now in his 13th year practicing Physiotherapy Matt’s working experiences have been in various practices in Coffs Harbour and 6 years in two specialized Sports practices – one in Sydney’s Upper North Shore and the other in Central Wellington, New Zealand.  During these 6 years he worked closely with two experienced Sports Physicians, Dr David McGilvray (Teaching Senior Sports Physician) in Hornsby and Dr Steve Targett (Medical Director for the New Zealand Rugby Union) in Wellington.

Predominantly over these years the clientele was Sports, Orthopaedic rehabilitation, Spinal related injuries and rehabilitation of general musculo-skeletal injuries.

Matt has also been involved in assessing and treating patients at two local Coffs Harbour Aged Care facilities since 2006.

Matt grew up in Coffs Harbour and was involved in competitive swimming, surf life saving, surf boat rowing, Tae Kwon Do and BMX racing. He also enjoyed surfing, soccer, basketball and gym strengthening.
At present as time permits Matt enjoys swimming, surfing and of course the annual ‘Trans-Tasman’ tennis tournament with Linda!  He has also restarted some low key triathlon competing.

During this time he has had his fair share of injuries and he is very familiar through first hand knowledge of many sporting injuries and Orthopaedic rehabilitation!

STUART NOLAN
Stuart grew up on the Coffs Coast and has recently returned here with his family.

He has over 15 years experience in treating musculoskeletal injuries primarily in private practice.  The majority of his working career has been in Sydney with periods in the United Kingdom and regional NSW.

Stuart has worked with all levels of sports injuries from elite to beginners in many different sports.  He has expertise in - Sports injuries, Running injuries, Post-surgical rehabilitation, Work related injuries and rehabilitation programmes.

He is a recent member of the Australian Dragon Boat Crew and has a particular interest and expertise in paddling injuries – their prevention and rehabilitation.





FAY SMEDE
Fay has lived on the Coffs Coast for some years.  During this time she has had various physiotherapy roles including the sole physiotherapist at a local hospital, locum and regular work in both hospital, aged care and private settings, case manager for a rehabilitation provider, Occupational Health and Safety and RTW Co-ordinator / Physiotherapist for a local aged care provider.  Over this time Fay has developed a particular interest in hydrotherapy, physiotherapy care of the elderly, manual handling and work place injuries – in particular the manual handling of people.

Fay is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and the Australian Association for the Manual Handling of People.

She lives near the beach with her husband Geoff, they have two adult sons. She enjoys beach walking and the occasional game of social golf.





PETER O’BRIEN
Graduated in 1976 (B.A.) and 1988 (B.App.Sc. Phty) and has worked predominantly in the Private Practice sphere for the past 20 years. Early in his career Peter was associated with NAISDA (Aboriginal and Islander Dance School) and was involved with contemporary dancers and the theatre. Peter had been principal of two clinics in Sydney and has resided in Coffs Harbour since 2002. He has a particular interest in the treatment of spinal problems and golf related injuries. Outside of work Peter plays golf, surfs (occasionally), works tirelessly on a house he shares with partner Dee and more recently has turned his hand to glasswork.  Peter’s two children, Oliver (10) and Kate (9), are being raised in Coffs Harbour and go to school at Korora.

LIZ DEERING
Liz has moved to the beautiful Coffs Coast this year and loves it here!  She comes to Coffs Coast Sports Physiotherapy having had extensive experience in the health sector and has an extremely strong customer service background. Liz has 3 adult children and enjoys photography, music and spending time with her family when possible.







CHRIS BARK
Chris also has moved to Coffs this year with her family.  Chris has also had extensive experience in the health and customer service sectors in both New Zealand and Australia.  Chris enjoys bird watching, bush walking and reading.






LINDA BECKER
Linda has extensive office and client based experience from 10 years working for New Zealand’s Premier Sports Travel Agency, the first five years spent looking after the travel needs of the NZ Rugby Union and the remainder heading the Inbound Tours Division.  Linda is Coffs Coast Sports Physiotherapy’s Clinic Manager, helping out with all aspects of Office Management as time permits with a young family.  Linda has an interest in jewellery making and in the future would like to work more on this as time permits.
